A maximum of 78.4 degrees was recorded at the U. S.

weather station at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Drew, South city, on May 17 and 27. The lowest temperature was 27 degrees on May 3. There were nine days of below freezing temperature.

Total precipitation was 3.20 inches. The rain precipitation was 3.18 inches and snow precipitation was .02 inch. On May 10, 1.5 inches of snow fell only to result in the foregoing snow precipitation. Rain fell on 14 days of the montia; partly cloudy on 10 and cloudy on 17; clear days numbered four; snow one day; rain and snow two days; thunderstorm one day and fog one day. Highest winds were recorded at 14 m.p.h., southwest, on May 19.

The prevailing wind was south. In the summary of May weather since 1930 as compiled by Mr. Drew the maximum temperature for May was last year, 1962, when 90.6 degrees was recorded on May 18. The minimum temperature for May in that period was 22.4 degrees May 1, 1956. Average precipitation was 3.21 inches.

1947 was the wettest when 5.69 inches of precipitation was recorded. The least precipitation was in 1944 with 1.20 inches. The greatest snowfall was twe inches in 1943 and 1961 but the average for May is only a trace of snow. May 1963 held the record for greatest number of frosts. The greatest number of thunderstorms in May were four, occurring in 1939 and 1959; greatest number of days snow fell was ir 1956 on three days.

He was married on Nov. 19, 1919 to Henrietta Armstrong, who survives him, as do their daughter, Mrs. Harold (Bertice) Bowen, of Derby Line; three grandchildren, Audrey, Lance and Larry; one sister in law, Mrs. Myrtle Burroughs of Morgan, and one nephew, Charles Burroughs, also of Morgan.

A brother, Raymond, predeceased him a year ago. He was a machinist helper, working for the Canadian National Railway 39 years. He had been a resident of Island Pond for 44 years.
